Management Tools

Stafix has over recent times introduced a number of industry-leading electric fencing products. However, two of those products have really grabbed the attention of both our loyal customers and users new to Stafix. Both management tools are designed to save you time and both can be used on any electric fence set-up. They are the Stafix Digital Directional Fault-finder (or Fence Compass) and the Stafix FenceAlert.

Electric Fencing will save you time and money compared to standard wire fencing, so long as you maintain a good voltage to deter your animals. Good quality management tools can help you ensure that electric fencing remains a cost and time efficient strategy of pasture management. These management tools allow you to spend the minimum time fixing inevitable faults, allowing you to get on with productive tasks to increase your farm's profit.

Stafix Fence Compass

If there was ever a tool designed, that reduced frustration levels and saved electric fence user’s time, this is it. The Stafix Fence Compass allows anyone to quickly find voltage-draining faults on a fence saving you time and improving your fence’s effectiveness and.

Because the Fence Compass requires no earthing lead and easily fits onto you belt or work belt, the Fence Compass is extremely portable. As you perform work around the property, you are quickly able to determine if there is a fault on the fence and in which direction it is.

The large back-lit screen displays both current, voltage and current direction simultaneously. In a perfect system there should be no current flow until something touches the fence that is earthed. (there is typically a small amount of current flow on most electric fence systems). If there is a fault (something that is causing current to continually flow out of the system), a current flow is established. The screen will show the current flow and in the direction it is flowing to the fault. The higher the current reading, (measured in amps), the bigger the fault. If the fault is significant, there will also be an impact on fence voltage. This will also be able to be seen in the screen. It is a simple matter of following the current indicator arrow until the current drops off.

When compared to using a voltmeter, which of course only shows voltage and requires the use of an earthing lead, the Fence Compass is many times faster at locating faults.

We have heard many stories of customers spending days trying to find a major fault on their fence with a simple voltmeter then purchasing a Fence Compass and finding the same fault within a few minutes!

Stafix FenceAlert

The frustration of having to find and herd animals that have broken through your fence can be avoided. As can serious motor accidents caused by stock reaching open roads.

Animals can quickly sense if a fence is down, so you need all the warning you can get so that you can repair the fault before they escape.

The Stafix FenceAlert is a unique, easy to set up warning device that alerts you when your fence has fallen below a preset voltage or the voltage is intermittent.

The FenceAlert simply clips onto any ‘live’ wire and can be left indefinitely in its place or moved as needed. To take full advantage of the benefit, a FenceAlert should be placed on every electric fence that is passed during hours of darkness, especially alongside driveways and around buildings. Anywhere you are likely to see it at night e.g. outside the kitchen window. You therefore have a much higher chance of being alerted to the fact your animals are about to escape.

The FenceAlert continuously monitors the fence for the life of its battery. When the fault that activated the flashing light is cleared, the FenceAlert stops the flashing light and continues to monitor the fence so you do not need to reset it. The battery provides sufficient power to remain on standby for up to 5 years or continuous flashing for up to 2 weeks. When the battery is flat, it is easily replaced with a commonly available 9V battery.

When you combine the Stafix FenceAlert with the Stafix Fence Compass you will cut your maintenance time dramatically not to mention hours spent finding roaming animals!
